Plans are currently being developed and will be confirmed soon, please check back here and on our facebook page for updates.
Medic Insight is a unique platform that provides information to and supports high-school students commencing on their journey to study medicine. This programme is run for high schools in Edinburgh and the surrounding council areas. Application information for our 2021 programme will be released on this website and on our Facebook page, keep an eye out for updates.
What we offer:
- Medic Insight Day
Aimed at S4 high-school students the day aims to give students an initial insight into life as both a medical student and a doctor while also giving you the foundation from which you can start your medical career. We do so by running a variety of talks and workshops. Dates are yet to be confirmed for the 2020/2021 cycle.
Medic Insight Week
Aimed at S5 high-school students the week aims to give students a further insight into their potential future career. We will organise clinical attachments, put on workshops and run talks all carefully considered by our team in order to give you the greatest chance of succeeding in your application to study medicine. We normally run the week programme twice, on consecutive weeks in June but this is currently under review for the 2020/2021 cycle and will be confirmed in the coming weeks and months.
Aims of Medic Insight Edinburgh:
- To provide a fair and accessible route of access to medical work experience for all school students.
- To illustrate the numerous working practices and specialties open to medical graduates, beyond the limited scope of what is often considered to be a typical ‘white coat’ doctor.
- To give students an objective view of medicine, in an unbiased environment, to foster a generation of medics truly aware of their potential future career.
Medic Insight is a programme ran entirely by full time medical students at the University of Edinburgh
